UX Engineer

Overview

Stathletes is revolutionizing professional hockey data and analytics for the world’s premier leagues, teams, players, agents, media, sportsbooks and digital platforms. Our mission is to offer the most comprehensive dataset in sports to drive the most accurate and insightful statistical analysis available in the market.

And we're looking for an experienced UX Engineer to join our team! As a key member you will bridge the gap between design and engineering, taking ownership of crafting exceptional user experiences for our software suite that services our internal teams, sports clubs, media and the world's premier hockey leagues.

The Role

As a UX Engineer you'll be responsible for translating design concepts into high-quality, production-ready code while advocating for user-centred design principles throughout the development process. Working closely with our CTO, product, data, and engineering teams, you will prototype interactions, build design systems, and ensure our products deliver intuitive and delightful experiences. You will refine mockups and wireframes, then work with developers to implement them with pixel-perfect precision and smooth interactions. You will have significant influence over our design systems and component libraries as we scale to deliver cutting-edge features and insights in our next phase of growth.

This role also provides an exciting opportunity to shape user experiences for products that integrate cutting-edge AI and machine learning, being part of a team that is defining how the world creates and consumes sports data.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • Strong proficiency in modern frontend technologies (React, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3)
  • Experience building and maintaining design systems and component libraries
  • Deep understanding of UX principles, accessibility standards (WCAG), and responsive design
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with designers and translate designs into code
  • Experience with design tools (Figma, Sketch, etc.) and prototyping
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on interactions, animations, and micro-interactions
  • Familiarity with version control best practices (Git, Github)
  • Experience with CSS methodologies and modern styling solutions (CSS-in-JS, styled-components, etc.)
  • A solid foundation in frontend architecture, with strong competencies in component design, performance optimization, and maintainability
  • A passion for delivering exceptional user experiences and advocating for users throughout the development process
  • Experience with data visualization libraries (D3.js, Chart.js, etc.) (this is a nice-to-have)
  • Familiarity with user research and usability testing methodologies (this is a nice-to-have)
  • Experience with analytics products or data-intensive interfaces (this is a nice-to-have)
  • Knowledge of sports analytics or related domains (this is a nice-to-have)
  • A love of hockey, and/or a passion for delivering data products
